Reviews - Clifton Bridge Guest House
Weekend stay -
The welcome was second to none and although the car park is small, the owner expertly guided us in. Lovely chap. Really good breakfast too. The rooms are warm, cosy and comfortable. We felt looked after and would definitely book again. There\'s a lovely walk along the river from here to York Centre so would recommend that too.

Lovely welcoming guest house -
This is my 3rd stay at Clifton Bridge. The host is very helpful and accommodating. After booking a room with 1 singe and 1 double bed we were upgraded without asking to a room with 3 separate beds to save 2 of us ladies having to share. Our room needed a hoover but as we were upgraded when we arrived this was a small detail which didn\'t prevent us from enjoying our stay. Rooms are always comfortable and breakfast is alwaysto a high standard, I especially enjoy the fresh fruit and full English.I wouldn\'t hesitate in recommending this guest house and will be staying here again the next I\'m lucky enough to visit York

Thursday 26th October 2017 -
We arrived early but as room was ready we checked in. The owner kindly moved his car so that i could park off the road. Nice walking distance from town centre. Twin room number 5 was perfectly adequate for our 1 night stay. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. Bathroom had a large shower cubicle and shower gel etc were left for guests use. Breakfast was lovely. Cooked to order. My son asked for a hash brown. Unfortunately they didnt have any but did cook him a potato cake which he enjoyed. Fresh juice, fresh fruit sakad, yoghurts, cereals and toast are also provided.Upon leaving the owner kindly helped me reverse out of parking spot. Would recommend and use again if i was in the area.

We enjoyed two nights stay in this B/B which is ideally situated for peaceful sleep but next to the river for a lovely short stroll to the centre of York.Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice.Arthur is a good host without being in your face.

Thank you -
Thank you for letting me check in early so I could leave my bag before attending a conference for the rest of the day. There was no coffee in the room (plenty of Yorkshire tea though) and a dirty sink - but I was early. The breakfast was very good indeed and the proprietor really friendly, welcoming a helpful.A lovely quiet place to stay and near the riverside path - 15 minutes to the city centre is optimistic - I\'ll bring my bike next time.

great clean hotel in a nice area of town only 15 mins walk across the river into York centre lovely rooms only negative thing was the shower wasn\'t very powerful but don\'t let this put you off all in all its a good hotel for the weekend

A bed for the night and a big breakfast -
At short notice and without spending hours online, this was the cheapest family room we could find in York this weekend.It\'s close enough to the city centre. The room was jam packed (2 single beds and a double). We could have done without having to wait 15 minutes at reception after a 6 hour drive. Breakfast ample but bacon hugely overcooked (tough rather than burnt). For £207 I would have hoped for far more. I suspect the Youth Hostel across the road might have been a better bet. The riverside walk taking you right down into the city centre (20 mins) was very pleasant.

2 Nights accom. -
Other than the toilet being a bit of a tight squeeze down the side of the shower.(A person larger than myself would find that a problem).A handy bus stop outside the guesthouse to go into the city centre plus a very warm welcome when we check in etc. We had a very enjoyable stay. THANK YOU!

As soon as I walked in I felt at home. Attractive guest house with lovely clean rooms and friendly people. Being a single female I am always wary of any hotel, let alone one as small as this but it was lovely and I felt secure and comfortable. Spacious room with all facilities provided. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice of cereals, juices and fresh fruit as well as a wonderful cooked English breakfast. I had my own personal taxi service provided by the owner Arthur, I was well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend.

Underwhelmed by Reception -
The title really says it all. Asked to ignore the guide lines painted in the car park to enable them to squeeze in another vehicle, which on departure did not appear to have happened.can only presume the only employee/member of staff we saw seemed to behaving a bad day. he was a bit more cheerful on the morning we left. Would not choose to stay there again

As arriving here we stayed in a huge room with high ceilings this building is a old building but caters for needs and children enjoyed swimming pool play room and the breakfast as did ourselves and a drink in bar. Great staff. This place is value for money and if I was in area longer my stay would also remain at this venue. Don\'t expect a posh new hotel feel, this is more of a dated but clean and comfortable and spacious place and I\'d recommend to anyone upon my personal experience

Well located for attractions -
Arthur greeted us with a wonderful cheery hullo, even though we arrived earlier than expected. House is located in a good position for easy access to the town centre and all attractions.Being so close meant that parking in town was no issue as one could leave the car behind and enjoy the scenery along the river while catching up with conversations without the noise of traffic.

The room was a nice size and adequate for one person and nicely situated on the outskirts of the city. My only problem was was the tea and coffee supply was not I think topped up as there are usually enough milk and sugar and t,bags for 2 or 3 cups. a=At least that is the norm in other places I have stayed. Also the bottle of water had been drunk out of and not been replaced by a new one

Despite being York Races on at the same time (which we didn\'t know until we got there !) the owner was very helpful and friendly and helped us to squeeze the bike into the car par which took some doing but we were grateful for that.Just 15 minutes walk along the river to York so ideal for seeing the city without having the hassle of being in the middle.

Clifton Bridge Guest is good value for money. The breakfast was excellent and staff were excellent with our dietary requirements .We shared a 6 bedded room which the only draw back was there was only one bathrooms .This could do with an extra lavatory and had basin as morning wash time of 5 women was rather hectic. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay and guest house was within walking distance but recommend taxi back if lots of shopping . We will return

Really lovely stay in York-
Having stayed in York many, many times over the last 20 years this was a last minute booking just for 1 night. Very rare to be able to get a 1 night booking anywhere in York. Paid a little more than usual but it was worth it. We were in a lovely, huge family room in the attic. Location was perfect - a 15 minute walk along the river or 20 minutes down the main road. Breakfast was excellent. Will definitely return.

We booked into Clifton bridge to be near enough to help my son move house from one side of York tothis side. We check in late which wasn\'t a problem for the host and the room was clean warm and very comfortable. It included plenty of tea &coffee and complimentary toiletries. We chose to have a full English breakfast which was made freshly to order and was very tasty indeed. On offer was plenty of cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit &breads, toast jam etc., I would certainly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting York and it is a lot cheaper than the ones directly in the town centre but I am sure it is more comfortable too. Bit of a shaky arrival because the Post Code is not helpful to locate the Guest House on the sat nav, so use the coordinates given in the confirmation email. Staying overnight for a wedding with my wife, two daughters and son. As our son has autism, we didnt want anywhere too busy or noisy so this seemed ideal. We booked a family room and was pleasantly surprised. It was a spacious attic room with a double bed and three singles. Our son loved it as he didn\'t feel cramped and still had quite a bit of space round his bed. The bathroom was more than adequate with a bath and shower cubicle, toilet and sink. Kettle, plenty of tea/coffee/milk/sugar. Very clean and tidy. Staff very friendly especially Arthur. Breakfast was a choice of cereal, yoghurt, full english, toast, tea/coffee or all if you so wished. Expext to have a bit of a wait though if guesthouse is at full capacity as they serve table by table. That would be my only criticism as i would have thought they qould get the next table tea or coffee while they were waiting. Would definitely recommend for family stays though, we will be staying again nearer xmas for another wedding.

Two night break. -
Very clean and tastefully decorated. Room supplied with plenty of towels, toiletries, tea, coffee etc. Beds very comfortable, very pleasant dining room and good choice of food for breakfast. Car parking a bit tight! One observation (not a criticism) is that this Guest House can accept payment only in cash or by bank transfer - would be sensible to advise future guests of this restriction. Would I stay at the Clifton Bridge again - definitely.

Above and beyond! -
Checked in for one night on the beginning of our tour in the UK. Exhausted from an overnight transatlantic flight. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful in gettibg us settled in and even drove us into town to show us where to get a great meal!!! Slept well. Breakfast was delicious! One negative. There really is too much furniture in the room. Making it feel cramped.

The guest house is located just a short walk to the centre of York city(about 20-30min).a choice of either a cooked breakfast or serials are offered.the cooked breakfast would be my choice, rooms are tastefully decorated, our particular room was at the front of the building so was prone to some traffic noise.apart from that the b&b was ideally situated . the proprietor was most helpful and friendly and professional.

Clifton Bridge Guest House Review -
More attention needs to be spent on cleaning.the \'skirting\'areas in our room/bathroom (No. 14) were dirty and dusty (yuk!), A non-slip mat should be supplied for the bath. Our room was not cleaned properly i.e. bed, cups left un-washed.We had a very disturbed night (last Saturday) when a coach-load of girls, who had obviously been celebrating, kept us awake, screaming and shouwhilst we were asleep and shouting.Out of your control maybe, but perhaps someone should have told them to \"shut-up\". We should have been informed before we arived that you only take cash.

We booked this accommodation last minute in order to stay over for the night in York on a visit to collect our new car. We are so glad we did! from the minute we got there it was clear that the owner (Arthur) was going to look after us. He booked us a taxi to take us straight into town and was genuinely interested in speaking to us about our journey and trip. The room was large, well appointed and best of all clean and comfortable. Good facilities including a fridge, shower with decent pressure and plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. The breakfast selection was good, well prepared, and lots of it. We encountered a problem on the morning of departure when the taxi booked did not arrive. Knowing how important the collection of our new car was (we had travelled 200 miles on three trains), Arthur took us to the dealership in his own car, including my wheelchair. A really good place to stay, great hosting. We will be back

I really like the hotel -
I stayed in this hotel when I travelled to York. To be honest, I was really nervous on that day because that was the first time for me to go somewhere in the UK by myself (I\'m a Japanese student who is studying in Canterbury at that moment. I came to England about 2 months ago). But because the room which I stayed in was very cozy and comfortable, and the owner was nice and kind, I could enjoy the stay there and also the rest of my journey. I appreciate it now and I\'ll recommend my friends that they should also stay there if they go to York!!!

Birthday bash river cruise -
The reason for our visit to York was to attend my brother\'s birthday party on a River Ouse cruise on the Saturday followed by lunch with a few of his old friends on the Sunday.I had booked the Clifton Bridge because of its convenient location by the river (about 15 minutes walk into the city centre) &its free parking facility. It was easy to find &we had arrived at about 10.30am, well before the check-in time to ensure we got a parking spot, but there was no problem &Arthur, the owner, dealt with all the formalities promptly, we unpacked &were on our way along the river bank into the centre by about 11am.Our room, no.17 on the ground floor, was comfortable with all the facilities you might expect including coffee making, bottles of water, etc. &we had a good night\'s sleep with no disturbances. The room &en suite were a little tired but clean &served our needs more than adequately. One of the reasons we choose a B&B guest house (&we have stayed at luxury hotels such as the Venetian in Las Vegas) is the cooked breakfast &we were not disappointed as it was first class, freshly cooked full English. In addition there was a choice of fruit juices, cereals &fresh fruit. Service was prompt &the breakfast room was nicely laid out with plenty of space between tables.Overall a very enjoyable stay &comparing notes with other members of the family who stayed elsewhere in a B&B or city centre hotel I think we made the best overall choice. The weather was absolutely superb throughout our stay &many thanks to Arthur &his staff for making our visit so enjoyable &hassle free. Excellent value for money &highly recommended for a short stay.

My three friends and i stayed at clifton bridge guesthouse this weekend for one night There was a little confussion when checking in as we wanted to split the payment between cash and card but that was the only difficulty we incurred. The manager was very welcoming when showing us to our rooms and offered is lifts to into in to the centre of york on more than one occassion. On the occassions we did get a taxi it was no more than 7 pounds to and from the town centre. The manager also gave us some good suggestions of which pubs to visit as one of my friends was interested in the reputation of the haunted ones. The rooms were a little dated but good size, clean and beds very comfortable. We opted for the cooked breakfast which was lovely but there was a good choice of cereal fruit and yoghurts available. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would definately recommend staying. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

Terrible checking in experience -
Hotel was clean, breakfast was nice and rooms satisfactory however we did experience quite a lot of trouble with checking in and being allocatedrooms. I stayed there for my hen do with mostly family members and some friends, we all booked separately as most people didn\'t know each other but I did send an email in advance listing all the bookings in our party and asked whether we might be able to leave our bags at the guesthouse as we had a meal to attend at 2pm. I did receive a one line reply saying that we could check in before 2. So I was very disappointed to hear from one party that they had been berated for arriving early just before I got there. When I arrived it quickly became apparent that there is no where near enough parking and I rushed in to try and get a permit for the street. I walked into absolute chaos, my entire party were crammed into one suite whilst the owner was very grumpily trying to rearrange everyone\'s rooms. We all just wanted the rooms we had booked online and on trying to explain this I was rudely told I didn\'t know what I was talking about and I should go out. The result of this was that two members of my family who had booked a twin ensuite room were sneakily put into an annex room with another group of my family that they didn\'t know. Therefore expecting 7 people who didn\'t really know each other to share 1 bathroom. This was not explained to them and was pointed out by the other family staying in the main room later in the day. We had to resolve this issue between ourselves and ended up sharing beds in one of the big rooms, as when we went back to the owner to ask if we could just stay in the rooms we booked, or whether he could refund us for the twin ensuite that wasn\'t being used he claimed we agreed to it. On this basis I would not recommend this guesthouse to anyone and definitely would not stay there again.

Started with reservations, end up very happy -
I came in late on a weekday evening, during mid-term break.I arrived to find I had to pay cash, due to card machine problems, involving walking to a local convenience store. It would have been better had there been more communication prior to me arriving, about this.I was also informed the breakfast was 8-9am.I thought this was a little restrictive as I had a meeting at 8.50am in York centre which I was walking to (having come up by train). The room was small but very comfortable and I felt well. The shower had good pressure and heat. here was tea, coffee and bottled water available.I went down for the breakfast in the morning and had a very warming welcome.Everyone seemed very happy in the hotel and the breakfast was really good. Many cereals, a great fruit salad, juices, tea, coffee and a cooked breakfast that filled me up until 5pm.So, despite reservations at the start I had a really good stay and would highly recommend the Clifton Bridge Guest House

Weekend break at Clifton Bridge -
The Guest House is ideally situated just outside the city centre:on a steady walk about 23 minutes to York Minster. So it\'s ideal to completely avoid the traffic mayhem and high parking charges closer in. It is run by a lovely chap named Arthur whose made my wife and I feel like royalty with his hospitality. This is a very traditional Guest House and I have no hesitation extending it a very high recommendation. Wonderful weekend break.

The walk into york along the river was a pleasant 15 minute stroll . A great visit. -
A wonderful sunny Autumn day welcomed us to York and we had no trouble in finding Clifton Bridge Guest House. We really enjoyed our stay and our host could not have been more welcoming. Particularly impressed with the breakfast.Although we seemed to be the only guests in the dining room, the table of food, especially the vast options of fruit, was laid generously. We were invited to leave our car in the car park (handy as there seemed no free street parking in the locality) while we then explored town (about a fifteen minute walk away) and were given a free bottle of water to quench our thirst during our two to three hour expedition. Would happily stay here again.

A Very Memorable Stay! -
As a family of four travelling with four pieces of huge suitcases, we were quite apprehensive about room size. However Clifton Bridge Guest House did not disappoint! The rooms were clean, comfortable and warm. The breakfast was excellent. The owner was a most gracious host and even allowed us to use the B&B\'s laundry room since there were no laundromats nearby. Overall, a very pleasant stay and would recommend the establishment to any tourist visiting York.

The guest house has a parking area within the grounds which was very useful given the difficulty with parking in the city. It is well located on a main road but with a short walk to the bridge and the river walk to the city centre takes about (15-20 mins to the castle wall). The room was clean with a large double bed(very large) a high quality flat screen TV and an impressive shower within the bathroom. The breakfast was very well cooked and we enjoyed it very much. There was also plenty of tea, coffee, shower jell, shampoo and towels supplied.

We had a good stay.We were greeted warmly and enthusiastically. It was as described on web site.Good value for money. We had a late night in town so cant rate breakfast but no one we spoke to had any complaints. It was a 15 min stroll to the town centre along the river bank (a pleasent experience). We used a taxi to go to town and back in the evening. It cost us £11 pounds in total. Excellent value. When we left we were thanked for iur custom and were allowed to use on site parking all day while we eent into town again.I would reccomend this place to anyone.

Stayed June 2015. Found guest house easily enough and as we entered gates the proprietor was just leaving but he stopped and checked us in and was both courteous and warm with his welcoming. The room was clean, comfortable and everything we expected for the price we paid. Breakfast was served promptly and again was perfectly adequate. We were staying to watch an elvis tribute and for a couple of quid the owner offered to drive us to the venue and pick us up later! Fabulous service and one that we appreciated. Would we recommend? Yes. Would we stay again? Definitely yes.

The twin room was also spot on plenty of room shower bath clean sheets etc. breakfast was served in the morning and they allowed us late check out for no extra charge. Also parking on site, walk along river not even 10 min to york city centre and was easy to find.Cons - only downfalls was water pressure not the best for the showers, and we had a ground floor room, heard no noise at all from other rooms except the room above every toliet flush through the night, thought it was abt to burst into our room? Not only did Arthur do so, but without us asking, booked us a table at a lovely pub, drove us there....and picked us up when we\'d finished! Most Enjoyable -
Stayed at The Clifton Bridge Guest House for 2 nights in August. Arrived an hour before check in time and were welcomed to wait in dining room whilst all 3 rooms were ready for occupation. Rooms clean, comfortable with all the little extras:toiletries, hairdryer, tea, coffee and biscuits etc. Staff were friendly and pleasant and the proprieter gave us a lift into the city, as we had travelled by train, told us about some good, reasonably priced eating places and even allowed us to leave our cases in reception after 10:30 checkout and offered to deliver them to us at the station so we could enjoy an extra day in this fabulous city. Would certainly return to this guest house, which is only a 15 minute walk along the river bank to main attractions.

Review of Clifton Bridge Guest House -
I was most disappointed with the service I received. When I initially tried to ring to book a room I was basically told to do it on line. I did this and when I was asked to enter a check in time I put 2pm but this may change slightly due to the fact I was arriving by train. I got there at 3, there was no one on reception so I rang and left a message as it went to voicemail. I was called back to say there would be someone there at 5pm. When I went back at 5pm I was told the room I had booked was no longer available but they could offer me a room in another guest house and they would drive me there. I had purposely booked the Clifton Bridge Guest House as it was opposite the youth hostel where my friend was staying with her children. I ended up finding alternative accommodation.

Quite good value for money -
convenient location with car park (although not easy to get in to or out of), small room, but adequate.I had a problem with no hot water when I wanted to have a shower before going to bed, but there was plenty in the morning.

Somewhere to stay ! -
Booked this accommodation through booking.com and it was pretty much as reviewed on that website.Room 2 wasn't large and the (comfortable)king size bed made it seem smaller but the facilities were good and there was reasonable storage. No complaints and the breakfast was good.

We stayed at the Clifton bridge guest house for just one night but will definitely be returning. The hotel is in a great location just 20 minutes walk to York city centre along the river which was a lovely walk. We arrived at the guest house about 11am &even though we were too early to check in we were allowed to leave our bags so we could start enjoying our day in York. We later returned to find our luggage had been taken to the room which was a nice surprise. The rooms are clean &comfortable with everything you need. For breakfast we had a variety of cereals juices &fruit as well as a cooked breakfast. All in all we had a enjoyable stay &we definitely got value for money

Poor service -
The bed was comfortable and the location relatively central and I was disappointed with the service. I didn't feel like a person that was valued in being there but rather a hindrance. Someone walked into my room unannounced, we had to wait until 8pm to check in on the first night (as did other couples) and breakfast was served only between 8-9am which made it hard for me to attend on 2 occasions due to my business responsibilities. I was dealt with in an interrogatory way which was a shame!

We were advised to check in after 2pm. We arrived at2.55pm to find that reception was locked up. We rang the bell three times, to gain no answer. There was no access to the main part of the building &no sign of any other staff. We rang the hotel's telephone number. A lady answered saying 'they' were coming back from the cash and carry. We waited a further 35 mins. The hotel itself is situated about 10mins walk from York city cntre. There is parking on site. The dining room is very pleasant. The hotel advertised free wi-fi in the bedrooms, therefore we asked for the password. We tried this several times but could not get connected. The owner advised it could only be used in the dining room. We used the toilets on the ground floor. The carpet was rather dusty and the tiling needed a good clean. Our bedroom was a decent size, but rather dated. The bathroom provided a bath with overhead shower, but the controls on the taps were taped up so that you could only use the shower, not the bath. The screws on the grab rails were subject to rust running down the tiles. The toilet roll holder was thick of dust. The grout on the tiles was dirty. There was a flat screen TV on the wall with freeview channels provided, which was useful, but was plugged into an electrical extension for the use of the kettle and any other devices. This was rigged up to one socket only. It looked quite precarious. The major plus was breakfast. The only two staff we met were the Scottish gentleman who looked harrassed most of the time, and Aaron, a younger man, whose customer service skills were exceptional. He saved the day, and went out of his way to find me some de-caff coffee for our room. I have scored this establishment as poor, but Aaron and the breakfast were the plus points.

On arrival at 4 .15pm we were informed by the Manager that they were full and when I told him we had a booking he said that we were too late and the booking policy was to book in by 4.00. His attitude was disc race full and has been reported to Booking.com
I am sorry Mr Wheattey you feel the way you do, if only you would have given me time to explain to you about the situationabout times on arrival, but you were very irrational and abrupt with your attitude and you left the guest house very quickly shouting at me telling me that you would be reporting the matter to booking.com, i was about to send you to another guest house nearby if you would have given me some time to listen to me.Best Regards, Proprietor ,Arthur Ferraioli.

Very well placed guesthouse, a 20 min meander along the riverside into the city centre. Lovely breakfast served by friendly staff. Some decorating was taking place during our stay. They have a large family room on ground floor but we chose to stay upstairs in a double and a twin en suite rooms next door to each other. Rooms were smallish with comfy beds, nice bedding and lots of pillows. The Guesthouse is on a very busy main road but the traffic did not keep us awake, we would recommend this guesthouse for exploring York.

We were visiting family in North Yorkshire from down South so stopped at York for 2 nights as had not been there before.Guesthouse bed was really comfy and just what we needed for a room to just sleep in for a few nights. It was clean and bathroom was great with good shower.Breakfast was cooked to order and really set us up for day.We would stay here again our only comment would be that walls were really thin and you could here room next door conversation and turning light on each time they went to the bathroom in the night - but would take cottonwool for earplugs next time!So much better than staying in a budget hotel.

Warm welcome -
We have stayed at the Clifton Guest House before a couple of years ago, and found the welcome as warm this time as it was the first. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. The en-suite was very spacious compared to a lot of other guest houses we've stayed in. The breakfast set us up for the day ahead and extra toast and coffee/ tea was offered. It is handily placed for easy access to the centre of York with only a ten or fifteen minute scenic stroll along the riverside. Free off street parking is also welcome. We would recommend trying the Clifton as an alternative to city centre accommodation that can sometimes be quite noisy and the car parking expensive. We will use the Clifton again.

Fantastic value for money -
We stayed in a very comfortable double room at the Clifton Bridge. The bed was huge with plenty of nice firm pillows. The room was clean however the decor was a little dated. The owner of the guest house was very helpful. We will definatley be back.

3 Day break -
Thanks for a pleasant stay and good breakfasts, a convenient spot just a 10 to 15 minute still down the river bank path or the main road and you are within the walls of York.Thank you.

Good for bikers -
We arrived earlier than planned but it was no problem to have a room earlier. This meant we could get changed and spend the rest of the day in York. There was a secure car park which is also good as we didn't need our bike during our stay. The walk into town went along the river and took approx 15 mins. The breakfast was extensive and lasted us all day. The only slight niggles were that the decor etc of the room was not the best we had stayed in and there was some noise from other residents but this was not the fault of the Owner.

Really cheap for a place quite close to York centre, however wasn't impressed with £3 charge for paying by card which wasn't made clear when booking. Also the room wasn't particularly clean; The bed sheets had a few hairs on and the desk hadn't been dusted in what looked like weeks. The shower was really good though, very powerful and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

“Very Friendy Couldn't Do Enough For You” -
The room was clean spacious and very comfortable. Bathroom was a good size and well stocked with all the toiletries and clean towels needed. As it was raining when we arrived Arthur took us to the City centre in his car and even provided a large umbrella for us. The centre is only a few minutes walk either by the main road or by the river with some lovely views.Breakfast was superb, fresh fruit, and yogurts, even Pepper Pig yogurts for children, high quality muesli, variety of cereals with apple juice orange juice and cranberry juice and a selection of Kit-Kats. Plus the full English cooked breakfast, of double fried eggs, sausage, mushrooms, beans, smoked bacon, hash brown and fresh grilled tomato which was excellent and cooked freshly to order, with toast and a selection of preservatives. Accompanying that is fresh brewed tea and coffee. My wife and I have frequented this establishment over the past 5 years, mainly in December for Christmas shopping, and we have nothing but praise for them throughout. We have never yet had a bad experience. When it comes to us going to York for a few days away, our first choice is always the Clifton Bridge Hotel, because it is always great value for money with friendly staff.Overall superb friendly owner and staff who ensures everything is to you satisfaction. Excellent size clean and well stocked rooms. Good food, excellent location and superb value for money. What more could you ask for. Personally I would recommend to all.
Thank you very much for your very kind remarks it was a pleasure to have you stay here and i look forward to seeing you again . kindest Regards. Arthur.

1 Night stay -
We had room 4 when we stayed for one night on the 15th of September, this room was great, being a family room we had loads of room and the bed was a super king size and very comfortable, it was clean and well kept and the breakfast was lovely and set us up for the day,our friends had room 2 that was smaller, but had no compliants, the host was very friendly and even gave us a liftinto town on the Saturday evening. We would recommend to our friends and would also use again when visiting York.

I enjoyed my stay and would happily recommend the hotel to my friends and relatives.Additionally the proprietor found my cash and credit cards which I left in the room and returned them to me using registered post. We got off to a sticky start with a misunderstanding re the bill due to a badly worded confirmation but on sorting that out we had a very pleasant stay. The rooms were clean and the facilities were good. Breakfast was good with the usual things available. The guest house was quite conveniant for the city centre being a short riverside walk away.It was a good stay.

I stayed here with 5 other ladies for my mum's birthday. It was a brilliant experience! We had one twin room and one family room. Both were ensuite. The rooms were clean and in good condition. The showers were lovely.Arthur made us feel very welcome and very at home.He provides a taxi service for £5 each way into town and back but the hotel isn't too far from town.He even picked us up after a night out at 2.30am!And he was up making breakfast at 8am!The breakfast was lovely too!Cereal, toast and a full english breakfast were available along with tea, coffee and a bottle of water for each of our party.Arthur even offered us a slice of watermelon to cure our dehydration from the previous messy night! The man is a machine.Best guesthouse ever to stay at!Thank you very much Arthur!

Not bad at all -
It seemed strange that our host was absent when we arrived on Friday afternoon and did not appear back at the Guest House for nearly 40 minutes (other arrivals had been waiting longer) but once he appeared, he was welcoming and handled our booking efficiently. The room was fine if a little tired and the range of services was good. The location of the house meant that it was only a 15 minute walk into the city and our host even offered to taxi us in if required.Breakfast was good with no shortage of fruit, cereals and hot food on offer. It appeared that our host was looking after more than one venue on his own, which would explain his early absence - a tough existence if indeed true and not something I would recommend in the long term.Good value for money though.Overall, a good, if different experience.

My wife and I stayed at the Clifton Bridge last weekend and we were very pleased with our experience. The room was perfect and all the other facilities were very impressive. The owner couldn't possibly have done any more for us and even gave us a lift into town. The full English following our night out was excellent;we were even given bottles of spring water to take with us on our journey home. We will certainly come and stay again!
